A WhatsApp romance wiped out everything I had

Work had me running on fumes and loneliness filled the quiet hours. A wrong-number WhatsApp that turned into daily banter felt harmless at first—then I started waiting for her replies.

After a few weeks she mentioned trading profits and a cousin who taught her. She framed a shared future if we "built something together," then sent an app link. Small deposits showed gains; withdrawals stalled behind fees and unlock deposits I kept paying because I trusted her.

The platform displayed fantasy balances while she coached me to add more. When I hit my limit, she cooled off, then her number died and the app stopped loading. It was pig-butchering dressed as companionship.

I told myself the relationship was real because months had passed. I was ashamed to admit I might be funding a script, so I stayed silent.

When the app returned nothing but errors, I searched its name and found pages of victims describing the same WhatsApp arc. Reading my own story in their words was the moment the romance plot broke.

I drained savings and credit. Shame kept me from family for months while disputes and reporting crawled forward. Rebuilding is still ongoing.

Anyone who moves from chat to a single investment link and blocked withdrawals is running fraud, not love. I wish I had blocked the first trading mention.
